Career & application

Twice a year the IMPRS-gBGC accepts applications for PhD positions. The next call will presumably open mid-July 2023. Stay informed about future calls for application. If you experience problems while using the sign up form, please get in touch with the IMPRS office.

Your application consists of three steps:

  1. Online registration & submission of application documents (July 10 - August 21)
  2. (Possibly) Phone or video conference interview (late August and early September)
  3. Selection symposium in Jena (October 16-18, 2023)

More Information:

If you are already funded as a doctoral researcher at the FSU Jena or the MPI for Biogeochemistry, you can be admitted to the IMPRS-gBGC as an associated member. Contact the program coordinator for more information on this. We call for applications twice per year. Our selection is highly competitive (usually about 25% of the projects are filled). Third-party funded projects are open until the position is filled.
The following PhD projects were offered during the 26th call for applications. Online application for up to three PhD projects was possible from 19 November - 9 January.
